Cosmic Era 72. After a year and a half, the war between PLANT and the Earth Alliance was finally resolved at the Battle of Jachin Due. Soon after, they reached an agreement at Junius 7, the former location of the tragedy, where both sides rallied in an effort for mutual understanding and peace. And so, the world was taking a step toward regaining stability..
In a future ravaged by years of conflict and war, peace for many is only a faint memory among much darker times. But now that the war had ended it seems that now, peace may finally be achievable. Different nations have different means of achieving that peace though. Some believe that improving their military might is the only sensible solution. Others believe that this arms race will surely bring more destruction than peace. It seems sometimes keeping the peace is harder than fighting the war.
During a conference between the two ally organizations ZAFT and the Orb Union, at ZAFT's armory facility, the Earth Alliance attacks the facility capturing three of ZAFT's new Gundam mobile suits. With their new Gundam mobile suits stolen, the future and possibility of peace now rests in the hands of an elite few, mainly mobile warrior pilots, Shinn Asuka of ZAFT and Athrun Zala of Orb. But this doesn't mean they are enthusiastic about working together. Shinn was once in inhabitant of Orb, but after his parents and sister were killed he left and joined ZAFT with hopes of revenge. In order to stop the Earth Alliance, Shinn must overcome his grudge against Orb and work together with Athrun and Orb if they plan on reaching everyones goal of peace.
